Vigilante Group of Nigeria Urges Enhanced Collaboration with Security Agencies During Ember Months

The Commander General of Vigilante Group of Nigeria, VGN, Dr. Usman Mohammed Jahun has directed State Commanders and other top ranking officers and men of the Organization to redouble their efforts in complimenting the Operations of formal security agencies towards combating crimes during the ember months and beyond.

At a press conference in Abuja, Dr. Usman Mohammed Jahun described ember months as a period where crimes are always on the increase hence the need for VGN to further strategize on how to reduce insecurity during the festive season.

The Commander General who was represented by the Assistant Commander General in charge of Operations, Philip Friday Amanyi said VGN is already training its officers and men nationwide on intelligence gathering and security strategies aimed at protecting the lives and property of Nigerians most especially at the grassroots.

According to him, VGN recently arrested thousands of bandits in some States in the Northern part of the country and handed them over to the appropriate authorities for necessary prosecution.

On the leadership of VGN, Dr Usman Mohammed Jahun explained that he remained the Commander General of VGN due to the verdict of a Court of jurisdiction in Nigeria.

He used the opportunity to congratulate the new Service Chiefs describing their appointment by President Bola Tinubu as a welcomed development towards overcoming the nation’s security challenges.

The Commander General of VGN expressed confidence in the ability of the new Service Chiefs to deliver on their mandates in combating banditry, boko haram, terrorism, kidnapping and other forms of insecurity confronting Nigeria.

“Gentlemen of the press, let me first and foremost congratulate the newly appointed Service Chiefs that is General Olufemi Oluyede who has replaced General Christopher Musa as the new Chief of Defence Staff and the new Chief of Army Staff, Major-General W. Shaibu as well as Air Vice Marshall S.K Aneke who is now the Chief of Air Staff and Rear Admiral I. Abbas , the new Chief of Naval Staff including Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major-General E.A.P Undiendeye who has retained his position”.

According to him, the new appointment by President Bola Tinubu is highly commendable as this will go a long way in strengthening Nigeria’s security architecture.

In his words “What is needed now is for all stakeholders to effectively support the new Service Chiefs towards overcoming the country’s security challenges”.

“We at the Vigilante Group of Nigeria will not relent in our efforts in supporting all formal security agencies that is the Police, Military, Civil Defence, Immigration, Customs, NDLEA and other constituted authority towards realizing the renewed hope agenda of President Bola Tinubu’s led administration in the area of effective security of lives and property of Nigerians most especially at the grassroots.”.
